Hi all! I hope 2024 has been good to you so far. After a January that seemed to last six years, March is flying by. I have a lot of exciting updates and events to share, so read on for the latest!
I am BEYOND thrilled to announce that I've joined the Highlights Foundation as a faculty member, and I'll be co-leading a workshop with the absolutely fantastic Crystal Allen! This is a complete dream come true, as I spent hours as a child pouring over every issue of Highlights Magazine I could get my hands on.
Here's an overview of what you can expect:
A Two-Night Mini Online Course
Writing about mental health is about both the impact for our readers, and the experience of our writers. How do we translate our lived experiences while keeping our youth audience centered? Join middle grade novelist Crystal Allen and young adult author and pediatric neuropsychologist Katie Keridan to consider what it takes to develop authentic representations of mental health that hold reality and hope throughout your novel.
This program is a good fit if you’re looking for a short course of two, 75-minute sessions offering limited interaction with the community and rich information.
Tuesday, April 2, 2024 (7pm – 8:15pm Eastern)
Thursday, April 4, 2024 (7pm – 8:15pm Eastern)

Join me April 6th for the San Diego Writers Festival, a day of author panels, book signings, and coming together to talk about books and writing. This event is FREE to the public.
I'll be talking about my publishing experiences with some amazing fellow authors, and you can find the entire festival schedule, as well as additional information by visiting the festival website at https://sandiegowritersfestival.com.
And finally, I've joined the staff at Adventures in Writing Camp, where I'll be helping middle schoolers in the Bay Area fall in love with writing this summer! I'll be leading two camp sessions, and you can find out more information about each by clicking below:
Palo Alto Camp June 3rd-14th: https://www.aiwcamp.com/paloalto/
Cupertino Camp July 15th-26th: https://www.aiwcamp.com/cupertino/
And that's a wrap (at least for now!). I hope to see you at a virtual or in-person event soon, and you can always connect with me over on Instagram at @KatieKeridan. Take care!
